Our Programmes

Educational Subsidy Programme (ESP)

Low enrollment, retention, and completion rates among girls in public secondary schools due to poverty and lack of educational resources.

Since 2008, the Educational Subsidy Programme has supported 80 vulnerable girls with school fees, uniforms, and learning materials, enabling them to stay in school and complete their secondary education.

The girls of concern also received internship opportunities that prepare them for higher education and leadership. The programme has helped girls build confidence, pursue careers, and break cycles of poverty, while promoting girls’ participation in STEM education.

Supported by Inti Raymi Foundation.

Learning Without Limits (LWL)

School closures and limited access to digital learning widened educational inequalities for girls, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, leaving millions at risk of falling behind or dropping out.

Learning Without Limits provided virtual and supplementary education to adolescent girls, bridging the digital divide and ensuring continued learning from home. The programme strengthened academic performance, improved access to quality education, and demonstrated community-driven solutions to educational disruption for 50 adolescent girls in Kaduna State.

Supported by The Girls Opportunity Alliance of the Obama Foundation and Go Fund Me.

Know and Say No (KSN)

Sexual and gender-based violence remains widespread, while many survivors lack awareness, support, and access to services.

Know and Say No has empowered women, girls, and community stakeholders with knowledge and tools to prevent and respond to gender-based violence.

The programme strengthened institutional capacity, promoted reporting of abuse, and mobilised communities to speak out against violence, reaching more than 1200 women, students, and social workers.

Our Safe Spaces (OSS)

Survivors of gender-based violence, conflict, and displacement often lack safe environments, psychosocial support, and economic opportunities to rebuild their lives.

Our Safe Spaces provided protection, counselling, and livelihood support to over 450 women and girls, including internally displaced persons and survivors of violence.

The programme restored dignity, improved emotional wellbeing, and enabled beneficiaries to regain independence and stability.

The Women’s Parliament (TWP)

Women and girls are often excluded from decision-making processes with limited access to platforms for policy influence.

The Women’s Parliament creates a safe and inclusive space for women and girls to engage policymakers, voice concerns, and advocate for change.

The initiative is strengthening leadership skills, increasing civic participation, and promoting accountability in governance.

Civic Education and Participation for Women Project (CEPWOP)

Women and marginalised groups remain underrepresented in political and governance processes due to limited knowledge of civic rights and participation opportunities.

Through civic education, town hall meetings, and advocacy engagements, the project has empowered over 3,000 women to participate in governance, engage decision-makers, and influence policies affecting their communities.

We For Them (WFT)

Sexual harassment and gender-based violence in public spaces often go unreported due to stigma, fear, and lack of awareness of support services.

We For Them increased public awareness, strengthened reporting systems, and promoted safer public spaces through partnerships with transport and education unions.

The programme reached over 4,500 beneficiaries and improved access to support services for survivors.

Together We Can (TWC)

Women and girls in crisis-affected communities face repeated cycles of violence, exclusion, and limited access to mentorship and support systems.

Together We Can provided mentoring, psychosocial support, and community advocacy to survivors of violence in high-risk communities.

By engaging men and boys as allies, the programme addressed root causes of violence and fostered safer, more supportive communities.

EmpowerHer

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and early marriage continue to threaten the health, education, and future of adolescent girls in vulnerable communities, exposing them to lifelong physical, emotional, and economic harm.

Through the EmpowerHer Programme, EWEI is protecting at-risk girls by providing education, vocational skills, legal aid, psychosocial support, and safe spaces that enable them to stay in school and make informed life choices.

The programme also mobilises communities to challenge harmful traditional practices, strengthens advocacy for girls’ rights, and builds safer, more supportive environments for adolescent girls to thrive.
